A memorial service for “Mistress of the Robes”
Diane Martin was held on Tuesday 13th May at St Peter Mancroft
Church in Norwich, the parish church of the Norwich Theatre Royal, the theatre where
Diane was closely associated.
In a day of funny stories and affectionate remembrances,
tributes to her work were led by Peter Wilson, the Theatre Royal Chief
Executive. Other contributions in word, verse and song came from, among others,
Richie Gauntlett (Norwich’s pantomime writer, director and Dame – and Quince/Egeus on the DVD of S4K’s Dream); and theatre producer Paul
Holman. Paul’s affectionate address also recognised the contribution Diane has
made over the years to Shakespeare 4 Kidz, where she has created the costumes
for all of our most recent productions.
